I'm not generally in favor of compromise. It tries to please all the people all the time and we all know that never works. But there are times where one side wants one thing and the other side wants something else that a good compromise can mean giving both sides what they want.
That's what we have in the Immigration Bill before Congress, one side wanting one thing and the other side wanting something else. All the Liberals want amnesty because they expect the majority of these new citizens to vote liberal. How to win elections in one easy lesson, bring your voters in from out of the country. All the Conservatives want the Borders to be closed tight. They say social/welfare costs are burying them and by the way what is wrong with enforcing the law? One side talks about Immigration and the other side Illegal Immigration.
Well I am willing in the name of peace and harmony and being the good guy that I am, to grant the Liberals their wish if they will grant me mine. I will vote for amnesty. All they have to do is to vote for real enforcement of the borders and not just lip service. Both sides get what they want.
In order to ensure this time that the bargain is carried out, however, the following stipulation must be adhered to. That the Bill in Congress be broken into two parts. Part one is to be funded & implemented right away. Part two is to be implemented as soon as part one is accomplished. Part one will be the closing of the borders. This part will provide for a completion of a double fence from California through Texas, every square inch of the border. And it shall include the hiring of double the border guards now employed with the addition of such high tech equipment and vehicles and planes and helicopters as is necessary for enforcement.
When Part one implementation is complete and completed, part two will automatically follow suit. All illegals now in the USA will be granted amnesty and a guest worker program instituted. Congress will pass both parts of the law now but with the provision that each is dependent on the other and be implemented in proper sequence.
