The United States of America is headed for a country wide shut down and our politicians are courting disaster by refusing to make our country energy independent. There are a number of factors involved here chief among them The War in Iraq, The Denial of Terrorism, Eco-nuts, and a Presidential and Congressional election.
The first area to explore is one of denial. Leading Democrats have declared The War On Terrorism to be a phony war. It was dreamed up by Bush to further his agenda and his popularity, they say. There is no large scale attempt by Muslims to harm the United States they repeat over and over again. There are a few isolated terrorists who should be brought through the civil criminal justice system and tried for their crimes but this represents no world wide threat, they continue. Furthermore if we had stayed out of the region we would not have anger the militants to go after us, they again say.
Well let’s have a look at the record before 9/11:
1979 Iranian Hostage Crisis
1982 Hezbollah kidnaps 30 US and other hostages
1983 US Embassy in Beirut is blown up
1983 Attack on the Marine barracks in Beirut where 241 Marines were killed
1983 Attack on US Embassy in Kuwait
1984 Bomb exploded outside Beirut Embassy killing Americans and others
1985 Hijacking of TWA flight #847
1985 Hijacking of the Achille Lauro
1986 Terrorists explode a bomb on TWA flight #840
1988 Pam Am flight #103 exploded over Scotland killing 259
1993 US troops in Somalia bringing humanitarian aid are attacked. After a fierce battle a dead US soldier is dragged through the streets of Mogadishu.
1993 First attempt at bringing down The World Trade Center in New York is masterminded by Ramzi Ahmed Yousef, AN IRAQ INTELLIGENCE AGENT.
1995
1996 East African bombings in Kenya and Tanzania
2000 Attack on the USS Cole
Clearly we have a record here where the United States is only responding to action taken first by the Islamo Fascists. I remember no outstanding action by America that precipitated such violent deeds. These attacks have spanned five US Presidencies – Reagan, Carter, Bush Sr., Clinton, Bush Jr., both Democrats and Republicans. The evidence also clearly points to the fact that we have been at war for more than 20 years. As usual the United States has been drawn in reluctantly. We are not the aggressor here. It is the Islamo Fascists seeking world domination which is at the heart of this conflict not anything the United States has done or failed to do. And the claim that if we had just stayed out of the area all would be peaceful is the same claptrap that leftists told us about the aims of Communism. Chalk some of this up to electioneering politics.
Next let’s turn to the Iraq War. Three things that stand out in the current debate need to be emphasized. First the biggest critics of today were supporters when this all started and those that were Congressmen voted to give the President approval to proceed in Iraq. The intelligence reports the President was looking at were the same reports the new critics were looking at. In addition the intelligence estimates of Israel, Britain, Poland, Russia and others all agreed.
Second the claim that there were no WMDs is illogical and without merit. Why would the leader of Iraq refuse to allow Inspectors in his country if he had nothing to hide? If Sadaam Hussein had agreed to UN demands he would still be in power and the United States would never had entered Iraq. Obviously there really were WMDs. There is testimony that most of the WMDs were flown out to Syria. People forget that the coalition of powers waited 13 months attempting to get Sadaam to adhere to UN Resolutions before any action was taken.
Third the remaining conflict in Iran is not a Civil War. Militant Muslim radicals are attempting to stir up ill feeling between different factions by bombing holy places of each side to foster religious hatred. The land mines being exploded in Iraq are all made in Iran. The militants are mostly outsiders streaming in to make sure a democratic state does not succeed and to fight the hated Satan. They are not Iraqi people, they are outsiders fermenting Civil War. The Iraqi people love us and have in every chance they have been given voted in larger numbers than US citizens do even after being threatened with death if they participated in a democratic process.
So let’s talk consequences. In a recent column titled “Iran’s Proxy War,” Senator Joseph Lieberman said this:
According to Brig. Gen. Kevin Bergner, the U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, the Iranian government has been using the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah to train and organize Iraqi extremists, who are responsible in turn for the murder of American service members.
Gen. Bergner also revealed that the Quds Force--a special unit of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps whose mission is to finance, arm and equip foreign Islamist terrorist movements--has taken groups of up to 60 Iraqi insurgents at a time and brought them to three camps near Tehran, where they have received instruction in the use of mortars, rockets, improvised explosive devices and other deadly tools of guerrilla warfare that they use against our troops. Iran has also funded its Iraqi proxies generously, to the tune of $3 million a month.
If we pull out of Iraq before that country is stabilized, Iran who already fought one war with Iraq in hopes of conquering it, will completely over run Iraq and annex it. What will follow is the slaughter of about a million people. Now Iran will be able to add Iraq’s rich oil reserves to its own.
Iran’s next target will be the subjugation of Lebanon which it has been pouring millions of dollars into already. Iran financed the recent Lebanon War with Israel. Finally Iran will take on Saudi Arabia and topple the monarchy there and add that territory to its own along with more rich oil reserves.
With billions and billions of dollars in oil sales now in its hands Iran will finish its procurement of nuclear bomb technology and make a workable nuclear bomb. What will follow is the nuking of Israel. Israel will be wiped off the face of the earth.
The consequences really are that at some point in this scenario, America will be right back in the thick of this conflict because to let it go to its conclusion would be suicidal.
But that is not the only consequence that will come about out of this whole mess. Energy will also play an important part in this story. And the big reason it plays an important part is the result of the Eco-Nuts influence of American policy.
We have plenty of oil here. There are large additional reserves in Alaska which we have been stopped from drilling for. There are oil reserves off the East coast in various areas stretching from Massachusetts to Georgia. There is oil off the coast of Florida. Castro has just set up an oil drilling rig 30 miles off the coast of Florida to drill for oil. There is oil off the California coast and additional areas inland where extracting oil from shale rock would be affordable at today’s oil prices. There is enough oil to make the US totally independent of any foreign oil. But all attempts to proceed at extracting oil anywhere in the USA has been stonewalled by Democratic Congressmen who owe their allegiance to the Eco-Nuts.
These same people have blocked any new oil refineries from being built for over 30 years by making the regulations to build one impossible to meet. The last oil refinery built in the United States was built in 1976 and refineries today run at full capacity. When one or more breaks down or needs to shut down for maintenance we are immediately put into a gas price crisis. People keep asking how the price can keep fluctuating from $2 a gallon to over $3 a gallon. Besides being a commodity traded on the commodity market subject to commodity price fluctuations, and besides the increase in oil usage of India and China, much of increase in prices at the gas pump are due to demand for gas exceeding the capability of refineries to supply it.
Eco-Nuts are also responsible for stopping the spread of the use of coal as a substitute for oil, even the newer cleaner burning coal. And lastly they have completely blocked the development of nuclear energy. No oil, no coal, no nuclear energy equals no American energy independence.
Recently in the news we have learned of Hugo Chavez the leftist ruler of Venezuela, an ally of Castro, has made an economic and political pact with Ahmadinejad of Iran. Venezuela is one of the United States’ bigger suppliers of oil outside the Middle Eastern countries.
How does all this talk about oil and American energy independence have to do with the War in Iraq and the Denial of Muslim Terrorism? The answer is the ultimate consequence of those who fight a Holy War, a war of death where human life means nothing, and world domination means everything.
Ahmadinejad and Chavez will team up and will refuse to sell America any oil. Cut off from all Middle Eastern oil and Venezuelan oil and the prohibition of oil drilling anywhere in the USA, we will be dependent on Canadian and Russian oil. It will not be enough. Many houses will go without heat. Many commuters will be unable to get to work. Many Americans will starve to death. We will watch the elderly freeze and starve to death right before our eyes and there will be too many to help. We will just watch them die. But then that is a necessary consequence rather than despoiling a pristine environment or putting the country first before winning elections.
